Large Polished Fossil Sand Dollar Echinoid Jurassic Madagascar 3 inches!

Hi all!
This is a large fossil Polished Echinoid (
Mepygurus
marmonti
)
from the Jurassic of Madagascar! Echinoids, aka sea urchins, are small filter feeding echinoderms (the group that includes starfish and crinoids) that are covered in spines and live on the sea floor. This species is often called a sand dollar even though true sand dollars didn't appear in the fossil record until about 100 million years later. One side has been polished to show detail, the other side is natural! It's about 3 x 2.75 x 1 inches !
