    Description

The factories of the late 1800s that produced Majolica tended to use plant leaves and blooms as subject matter. A number of these companies marketed pieces in the geranium leaf motif, usually with blended glazes.  One such shape was the butter pat.  This particular item has no markings so I am not exactly sure of the location or company of origin. I do feel, however, that it was produced somewhere in Europe during the late 1800s, most likely from England.  The pat measures 2 5/8” across and is colored in earthtone glazes. The dish is in excellent antique condition with only a couple minor nicks on the edge, as pictured. One exists at the very tip of the leaf and the other is along the edge close to the base. These spots can be felt and viewed when closely observing the item. Please view all pictures as they are considered part of the description.
Please check back to my listings often as I will be posting numerous fine examples of glass, pottery and porcelain in the near future.
    Thank you.
