    Description

This is a card from the Santa Fe Railroad for Boy Scouts going to the 1953 Jamboree in Newport, Orange County, California.
You also get some handwritten letters from the Boy Scout.
The Santa Fe Card was given to boys riding the train to the Jamboree. It has 2 parts and it is larger than a regular postcard. (6 X 9 inches)
IT HAS A  MAP on the back side of it showing the route to the Jamboree.  You can tell from the postmark that the Boy Scout mailed this back to his parents. It measures
The letters are GREAT, and there are 3 pages of them.  The boy was going from New Jersey to California for the Jamboree. Here are some quotes:
"The food on the B & O was crummy compared to what we have on the Santa Fe. For Sunday Supper we had a /2 a chicken and potatoes, carrots and peas and ice cream plus 2 1/2 pints of milk at midnight (I am good fried of the Head Chef who is from Hackensack who's name is Russell)
He gave me 2 cups of coffee cake and a 1/2 pint of milk just for me. He often gives me extra ice cream after meals.
We met a bunch of Texans  going to the jamboree and we have quite a time with them. We call them Confederates and they call us Yankees. Don't spend all your Confederate money is a standard joke because they believe the South will again rise.
    The Grand Canyon is beautiful."
