HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – What started as a small operation in 2019 has grown to a larger production with a loyal viewer base. Now, starting Nov. 11, Hawaii News Now’s noon broadcast ‘This is Now’ will be taking on a new look.
The show, which launched in 2019 as a Facebook & Digital livestream only, moved to an on-air noon slot in 2020.
Created by Jonathan Saupe and his co-anchor Ashley Nagaoka, the show has moved from a one-man operated system in the newsroom, to the control room, and eventually the high-tech HNN Digital Center.
Come Monday, the show will embark on it’s next chapter in HNN’s Studio B. It will be complete with bright new graphics, camera shots and creativity, but will still have the same news and information viewers have come to depend on in the middle of the day.
The team both on-air and behind the scenes will also be taking on new roles.
Ashley Nagaoka will continue to anchor the show daily. Meanwhile, Dillon Ancheta, who stepped into the anchor and producer role in 2023, will depart the show as a daily anchor. Instead, he will continue to contribute on air and online through reporting and special coverage.
Digital Content Producer Emily Cristobal assumes the role of lead producer while photojournalist Davis Pitner will continue his work as an editor while also serving as a backup producer.
Drew Davis from the First Alert Weather Team will also be starting his day earlier to provide live weather updates at noon. Finally, Todd Kamisato will help ensure the show hits the air daily as the TMP operator.
HNN hopes viewers will enjoy the updated look of the show and continue relying on Hawaii News Now for the latest news across the islands and the country.
‘This is Now’ will continue to air at 12 p.m. on KHNL & KFVE, as well as the Hawaii News Now Facebook page and streaming online at HawaiiNewsNow.com.
